2019 Teen Sensation Live Singing Talent Competition Winner is...


Lauderdale Lakes, FL - The results are in for the 2019 Teen Sensation Live Singing Talent Competition and Showcase! The Competition was held Friday May 17 at the Multipurpose Auditorium, in Lauderdale Lakes. The competition, now in its 6th year, culminated in a final round, featuring live performances and real-time commentary from a panel of distinguished judges.


“We see this as an opportunity to showcase the growth in emerging teen talent and prestige the competition has gained over the last 6 years,” said Lynore Dyer, Executive Director of the Teen Sensation Live Singing Talent Competition. “What started as a showcase of local talent at the annual UNIFEST cultural festival in Lauderdale Lakes has expanded in to a nationally respected and highly regarded competition in the vocal arena.


First Place and the Audience Favorite went to 17-year-old Andrew Robichaud, of Plantation, whose rendition of “Crying,” by Roy Orbison, left the audience breathless. Currently a junior at Dillard Center of the Arts, Andrew performs in concerts of all types including vocal choir, theatre and open mics. His goal is to recreate some aspects of music and to add some color to some genre of this upcoming generation. He receives the 2019 Teen Sensation Live Championship Trophy a cash prize of $1000 and was featured on stage at the 25th Annual UNIFEST event at Vincent Torres Memorial Park on Sunday May 19th. Second Place went to 19-year old Alex Ruiz aka Haven, a Finance major at Florida Atlantic University. Alex grew up around his grandparents who sang and with that influence he began singing at a very early age. He can be found showcasing his talent on all social media platform @haventheprovider. Third Place “ Mecca Alexander “ a 15 year old student from Everglades High School in Miramar who performs extensively throughout South Florida. She is the recent winner of the South Florida Kids Got Talent and is a member of the 360Wise Music Group.


Judging the competition and offering constructive commentary on each performance were Helen Robinson, mother of R&B Singer & three-time Grammy nominee, Pleasure P, from Pretty Ricky; Jordan Bernard, who have worked with Republic Records in scouting talent for FOX’s THE FOUR and with various Social Media companies touring with influencers to showcase their talent; M.C.A.D.E. President and CEO of 4-Sight Records. A music producer and rapper his 1985 single, “Bass Rock Express ‘, is often considered as the beginning of Miami bass; and Bobby Gonzales, professional Studio bass player, singer, song writer, arranger and producer who have worked with the likes of Sam the Sham and the Pharaoh in the sixties and Artist such as Jimi Hendrix and many more. The competition was streamed live on Teen Sensation Live Facebook page and Irielivestream.com.


The 2019 Teen Sensation Live Singing Talent Competition and Showcase is produced by People for A Better Community, Inc., a South Florida based non-profit organization in partnership with the Greater Caribbean American Cultural Coalition and the City of Lauderdale Lakes. Winning cash prize provided by Lauderdale Lakes Collision Center.



ABOUT TEEN SENSATION LIVE SINGING COMPETITION


Teen Sensation Live was designed with the youths of the community in mind. This program was developed by People for A Better Community, a non-profit organization with a passion to effect change within communities. The program provides the platform for teens ages 14-19 to showcase their talent to the community and beyond. The program also works with the teens to help build confidence and self-esteem.
